What if you had instant access, at any time, to an expert operating in the narrow intersection of flight safety, sleep science, crew management, and fatigue risk management regulation? An expert able to provide concise, reliable, and operationally relevant answers without drifting into speculation or hallucinations. An expert built specifically for the realities of aviation operations.

For Jeppesen FRM customers, that expert now exists. We checked back with Jonas Aronsson, FRM AI Lead at Jeppesen, for some background and context around the launch of the new FRM Navigator.

“Well, if you are a Jeppesen FRM customer, you now have access to exactly that,” says Jonas. “The FRM Navigator has been trained specifically on the intersection of fatigue science, operational best practice, aviation safety, and FRM regulation — and it is improving rapidly.”

Even in its current beta release, the system has performed strongly in recent user evaluations, with Version 1.1 now available to our customer base.

“When we started developing the FRM Navigator, the goal was never to compete with general AI tools like ChatGPT,” Jonas explains. “The goal was to create something aviation professionals could genuinely trust in a safety-critical environment.”

Unlike general-purpose AI systems trained on broad internet data, the FRM Navigator is grounded in carefully curated and validated material focused specifically on flight safety, sleep science and fatigue risk management. This includes operational procedures, scientific research, regulatory guidance, safety reporting practices, and internal aviation expertise.

“In fatigue risk management, precision and consistency matter,” Jonas says. “A general AI can produce impressive responses, but it may also introduce assumptions, outdated interpretations, or information that does not align with operational reality. The FRM Navigator is designed to remain anchored in trusted sources and aviation context.”

The result is an AI assistant that speaks the language of aviation professionals and delivers support that is more relevant, traceable, and operationally aligned.
